Regional Development Australia Central Coast (RDACC) Chairman Phil Walker has welcomed the appointment of Central Coast Council Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Gary Murphy, as a definitive step forward for the Central Coast.

Mr Walker says RDACC looks forward to working closely with Mr Murphy and his staff to collaboratively deliver enhanced economic outcomes for the region.

“RDACC enjoys a strong working relationship with Central Coast Council and the appointment of Mr Murphy as the first permanent Council CEO since the amalgamation of Gosford and Wyong Councils in May 2016 will help drive regional economic initiatives through continuity and commitment,” said Mr Walker.

“We look forward to continuing to collaborate with council on initiatives including the Regional Economic Development and Employment Strategy (REDES), the Regional Infrastructure Priorities and the Central Coast Food Innovation Project to create a profitable, productive and prosperous region.”

Mr Walker said Mr Murphy’s focus on community, engineering background, and private and public sector experience across the globe are assets for the Central Coast.

“Mr Murphy’s experience in both the government and private sectors in various parts of the globe will be an asset for our area, offering the ability to bring a broad perspective and best-practice experience and understanding to the table,” Mr Walker added.

“His engineering background will assist in driving critical endeavours including the Infrastructure Priorities List – a key project developed to provide adequate infrastructure to support the projected 70,000+ population growth projected for our region over the next two decades.

“RDACC is also impressed with Mr Murphy’s strong community focus and we look forward to working with him and his staff to achieve our shared vision of a strong and sustainable Central Coast region when he commences his appointment in July.”
