Building Better Regions Fund: Round Three Now Open

03-10-18

Regional Development Australia Central Coast (RDACC) is encouraging council and community groups to submit applications for Round Three of the Australian Government’s Building Better Regions Fund, which is designed to support community and infrastructure projects in regional, rural and remote areas.

The $641.6 million Fund is designed to help create jobs, drive economic growth and build stronger regional communities across the country.

$200 million is available for Round Three, with up to $45 million of this funding earmarked to support tourism-related infrastructure projects.

RDACC Director Regional Development & Chief Executive Officer, John Mouland, said clearly demonstrating how a project benefits the entire Central Coast region will be critical in successfully accessing Round Three program funding.

“We’ve been advised applicants should demonstrate how their project will drive economic development, make their region a more attractive place to live, and foster partnerships across their community,” explained Mr Mouland.

“Thinking outside-the-box can be a winning formula to receive funding, as long as the proposal also provides clear objectives and maps out the benefits for our entire region.

“The heavy focus on tourism infrastructure would prove invaluable to kick-starting many local tourism infrastructure initiatives designed to grow and benefit our entire tourism economy.

RDACC is happy to provide support and assistance to any organisations considering an application.”

There are two streams of funding available. The Infrastructure Projects Stream supports the construction, upgrade or extension of infrastructure. The Community Investments Stream funds new or expanded local events, strategic regional plans, and leadership activities. All projects must demonstrate economic and social benefits for the entire region.

All eligible applications must:
• be seeking a grant of at least $20,000 and up to a maximum of $10 million
• provide evidence confirming all cash and in-kind contributions
• have a project that has not started at the time of application and be ready to commence soon after executing the grant agreement
• be completed by 31 December 2021
Applications for Round Three of the Building Better Regions funding will close on Thursday 15 November 2018 at 5pm.
