Final workshop in successful 2018 NFP Series

07-11-18

The fifth and final instalment in the 2018 Central Coast Not-for-Profit (NFP) Series is
happening on Tuesday 20 November at The Entrance Leagues Club, Bateau Bay, and will
focus on Investment Strategy and Committee in the NFP sector.

The Series has encountered huge success since its debut in February this year, attracting
over 240 representatives from more than 150 community organisations across four seminars
to date, all aimed at enhancing and supporting the viable operation of NFP’s across the Central
Coast.

Forum Series Coordinator and Fortunity Business Development Manager, Yvette Wright, said
the high level of interest and participation in the Series highlights the need for this kind of
support in our local community sector.

“When developing this Series, we couldn’t anticipate the high level of interest and participation across our entire not-for-profit network” said Ms Wright.

“The overwhelming level of interest and involvement from all facets of our NFP community
really identifies the need for such services in this sector. Due to the success of this inaugural Series, plans are already underway for an exciting 2019 agenda.”

Series partner, Regional Development Australia Central Coast (RDACC) Director Regional
Development and Chief Executive Officer, John Mouland, said the goal of the Series has been
to support and enhance the viability of the Central Coast NFP sector.

“The aim of the free forum series has been for NFP organisations to access the most current
and relevant advice and information to support their effective operations,” said Mr Mouland.

“This inaugural series has featured leading experts from across the country to provide the
latest information to our local NFP’s, including Deputy Commissioner of the Australian
Charities and Not-for-Profits Commission (ACNC), Murray Baird, Australian Institute for
Company Directors (AICD) representative, Phil Butler, Fish Community Solutions Founder,
Bianca Crocker, and former Board Member of the Australian Accounting Standards Board and
Principal GAAP Consulting, Colin Parker.”

“Given the Series has attracted nearly 250 representatives from our local NFP community
speaks to the need for a strong and supportive network for our local community organisations
and the incredible work they do.”

The Investment Strategy and Committee NFP Forum will be held on Tuesday 20 November
at The Entrance Leagues Club, Bateau Bay, from 4pm-6pm.

This forum will feature guest speaker Raf Choudhury from State Street Global Advisors; a firm
of industry experts who work with individuals, corporates, government and not-for-profits to
help grow their investments for the future. Raf will cover topics including investment strategy,
investment policy and why your NFP should have an Investment Committee.

Fortunity will be conducting workshops on the following day, Wednesday 21 November.

Workshops will offer more detailed and specific sessions structured for a smaller audience,
with a focus on investment strategy and committees. These workshops will be held at
Fortunity, 155 The Entrance Rd, Erina at 10am and 1pm.

Both the NFP forum and workshops are free of charge. Bookings are essential. To register
