Regional Infrastructure Priorities Position Statement

RDACC Board Resolution: 7 December 2015

In 2014 Regional Development Australia Central Coast coordinated an unprecedented regional collaboration effort to develop the Regional Infrastructure Priorities List, which provided an agreed list of the key-enabling infrastructure needed on the Central Coast to grow investment and employment.

The Central Coast Regional Infrastructure Priorities List was prepared and informed by consultation between members of the Regional Economic Development and Employment Strategy (REDES) Strategy Implementation Group (SIG).

Members of this Strategy Implementation Group included:

  • Regional Development Australia Central Coast
  • NSW Department of Premier and Cabinet
  • Central Coast Tourism
  • Gosford City Council
  • Wyong Shire Council
  • NSW Department of Planning and Infrastructure
  • Central Coast Regional Development Corporation
  • NSW Trade & Investment
  • Roads and Maritime Services

The following criteria were used by members of the REDES SIG to form the infrastructure priority list.

  1. Can be delivered within 4 years (of funding approval).
  2. Achievable, i.e. scope defined, cost established, planning approval in place or process defined.
  3. Not already committed.
  4. Ensure timing of infrastructure aligns with funding opportunities.
  5. Ensure infrastructure enables delivery of additional and new regional benefit, i.e. one investment delivers multiple outcomes.
  6. Keep the request for money at a realistic and achievable level.

Since its public launch in 2015, the Central Coast Infrastructure Priority List has been utilised to guide the preparation of united regional funding submissions to both the NSW and Commonwealth Government.

The RDACC Board is committed to reviewing the Central Coast Infrastructure Priority List in 2016 to ensure that the priority list includes all validated projects that are required to provide the essential key-enabling infrastructure needed on the Central Coast to grow investment and employment.
