CENTRAL COAST SPORTS GRANTS
30-04-18
Liberal Senator for New South Wales, Arthur Sinodinos, and Member for Robertson, Lucy Wicks, have urged Central Coast sportspeople to apply for a Local Sporting Champions grant.
“The Turnbull Government is committed to getting Australian kids more active, more often,” Senator Sinodinos said.
“That’s why we’re encouraging young athletes, coaches and officials to apply for before the deadline closes on June 30.”
Ms Wicks said the $500 grants provide financial assistance to athletes, coaches and officials, to go towards travel, accommodation, uniforms or equipment when attending endorsed state, national or international championships.
“Local Sporting Champions grants provide an ideal opportunity for young sports people to gain financial assistance to help them turn their sporting dreams into a reality,” Ms Wicks said.
“They align with our deep commitment with local projects like the $23 million Tuggerah Regional Sporting and Recreation Complex due for completion later this year, and the Woy Woy Oval redevelopment.”
The grants are aimed at alleviating the financial strain some families and young athletes feel when selected for a significant sporting event.
