Your Not-for-profit Questions Answered

Local not-for-profit organisations are being given a helping hand in the critical areas of grant writing, fundraising and attracting sponsorship with an upcoming workshop, the third event in the hugely successful 2018 Central Coast NFP Forum Series.

Brainchild of Fortunity Chartered Accountants, the 2018 initiative is committed to supporting the Not-for-profit sector on the Central Coast through seminars, educational workshops and support services.

Following the success of previous forums held earlier this year, the focus of this month’s event will be Grants, Sponsorship and Fundraising. Due to the large amount of interest in this area, Fortunity will also be running smaller, tailored workshops following the event.

Fortunity Business Development Manager, Yvette Wright, said this is an area that many not-for-profits, no matter how big or small, struggle with in their ever-growing list of responsibilities.

“Feedback from within the NFP sector has highlighted that securing grants, fundraising and attracting sponsorship is essential to their success and any guidance in this area is welcomed,” said Ms Wright.

“Because this is such a high-demand area of interest, Fortunity will be utilising the expertise of forum keynote speaker, Bianca Crocker, to run smaller, individually tailored workshops for any NFPs looking to gain a greater insight into this topic, on the two days following the forum event.”

RDACC CEO and Director Regional Development, John Mouland, said the response to the Forum Series has been overwhelming.

“There has been a strong amount of interest in the series so far, with fantastic feedback to the previous two events. The most recent forum event on Director Roles and Responsibilities attracted more than 100 attendees,” said Mr Mouland.

“There is obviously a need for this type of support across the not-for-profit sector. These organisations play a vital role in our community and it’s not always easy for them to keep up-to-date with everything that needs to done.”

Keynote speaker Bianca Crocker is from Fish Community Services, an organisation that specialises in education, strategies and support for emerging not-for-profits, as well as building sustainable funding models.

Topics covered include:

  • Best practice in grant funding;
  • Attracting business partners; and
  • Building and maintaining relationships with donors.
