Following approval of the 2022 Key Enabling Projects Prospectus tabled at last night’s Ordinary Meeting of Central Coast Council, 12 projects of significance have been identified as infrastructure funding priorities for the Central Coast over the next three to five years.

As the driver of the original Critical Infrastructure Priorities List, Regional Development Australia Central Coast (RDACC) is a key supporter of this advocacy strategy.

RDACC CEO & Director Regional Development, John Mouland, says the value of collaboration has never been more evident.

“The Central Coast is one of Australia’s fastest growing regions. The decisions that are made now will ensure our region and community has everything needed for a liveable and sustainable future,” says Mr Mouland.

“In joining forces with all levels of government and presenting a united front of our key regional stakeholders, the Critical Infrastructure Priorities List became a benchmark for regional collaboration and success, attracting over $2B in critically enabling infrastructure funding to our region.

“The Key Enabling Projects Prospectus represents the next stage in this collaborative process and we will continue to build on our strong relationships with Council and other regional stakeholders to ensure ongoing success in attracting this essential funding to the Central Coast.”

RDACC Deputy Chair, Anna Cruckshank, says with a State Election due in March 2023, the propectus document will be a driving force in advocating for catalyst projects that need to secure additional funds.

“Central Coast Council’s Prospectus document outlines both the vision and details of projects ranging from infrastructure upgrades to community sporting facilities that will benefit our community over many generations,” says Ms Cruckshank.

“It also allows residents to learn more about these projects and understand how much funding is required to make them a reality, as well as providing an invaluable tool for regional advocacy in the lead-up to the state election happening early next year.”

Council Administrator, Rik Hart, says the Key Enabling Projects Prospectus is an important milestone for Council that will allow improved visibility of the organisation’s short to mid-term capital works priorities.

“I am particularly delighted that staff have been able to identify priority areas for investment in the northern areas of the Central Coast,” says Mr Hart.

“While the prospectus does contain an infrastructure wish-list that will benefit the entire community, it is important that we put in place plans to ensure that areas of population growth will get the benefits they need.

“Council and its partners will use this prospectus to advocate for projects that we feel will help our community,” he concluded.
