Regional Development Australia Central Coast (RDACC) has congratulated local company North Construction and Building on achieving one of the top honours in the 25th annual Australian Training Awards – taking out the Medium Employer of the Year Award.

RDACC Director Regional Development and Chief Executive Officer, John Mouland, says the win reflects a culture of quality construction here on the Central Coast.

“On behalf of RDACC, I extend earnest congratulations to North Construction and Building for this outstanding achievement and recognition at a national level,” said Mr Mouland.

“As one of the major building contractors in our region, this award is recognising the high standard set by North Construction in terms of its company culture, commitment to continuous improvement and training, and delivery of outstanding community and commercial developments including schools, health care centres, sporting and cultural facilities that raise the reputation of our entire region.

“This win highlights not only the outstanding work of North Construction, but also showcases the superior standard of quality builders here on the Central Coast.”

Mr Mouland said the win also reflects a commitment to the creation of employment opportunities and training for young people in our region.

“As one of the major employers in our area, North Construction employs 95 staff, engages 400 contractors and trains 12-15 apprentices and trainees every year,” said Mr Mouland.

“North’s commitment to creating opportunities and supporting skills development is highlighted by its dedicated Apprentice Manager, who oversees coaching and mentoring of all apprentices to ensure quality progression is achieved.

“Since 2011, North has also partnered with the University of Newcastle to create opportunities for construction students through its Industry Scholarship Program.

“North Construction is a deserving winner of this national honour and we acknowledge the contribution of all of our major developers in the advancement and progression of our entire community.”
